DIYARBAKIR - A cooperation protocol was signed on Sunday between head officials of Nusaybin town of southeastern Mardin province and Al Qamishli town of Al Hasakah province of Syria.
Nusaybin Head Official Omer Ulu told A.A correspondent that citizens in Nusaybin have relatives in Al Qamishli town, adding that they permitted citizens to see their relatives for two days during the Ramadan Holiday.
Noting that they carry out studies to improve the relations with Syria, Ulu said that they signed the protocol with Al Qamishli head official Yasser Al Shufi to this end.
Ulu said that 20 businessmen from two towns will visit the other country and determine which goods can be exported and imported.
''Our contacts continue with Syria to open Nusaybin Border Gate to transit passages to increase our commercial relations. If the transfer passages start, this will be very useful for the tradesmen. We expect the response of Syria to our demand. We will also host successful students reciprocally. There are also sports activities in the protocol. We will start to implement the protocol as of next week,'' he said.
