LEFKOSA - TRNC President Rauf Denktas was welcomed by a military ceremony in Gecitkale Airport of TRNC on Saturday.
Addressing the people in the airport, Denktas said that he was very happy to come to TRNC, adding that he had to rest for two-three weeks, but he returned to the island not to be far away from Cyprus issue and people anymore.
Denktas said that he read the response of Greek Cypriot leader Glafcos Clerides to the U.N., adding that he felt hopeless after reading the document of Clerides.
Denktas said that Clerides tries to build the future of Turkish Cypriots on the Cyprus republic known as Greek Cypriot republic, adding that Clerides accused Turkey for bringing people to the island. Denktas said that Clerides found few the number of Greek Cypriots who would come to the Turkish side due to the plan and he wanted more Greek Cypriots to come to the Turkish side. Denktas stated that Clerides wants formation of new cantons.

Denktas said that he would meet with U.N. special envoy for Cyprus Alvaro De Soto on Sunday and he would explain the views of the Turkish side to him again.
Underlining the fact that Turkish Cypriot are sovereign people, Denktas said that ''in the 1960 Republic, sovereignty stemmed from two peoples. Now there is no word of sovereignty, TRNC, there will be Cyprus Republic. Everything will be built on that.''
Denktas said he thanks those who say that ''economic difficulties can't make us give up protecting our state,'' adding that there are persons who use economic difficulties as a tool in disturbing the relations between the people and the state. Denktas said that the way to end economic problems is to claim ownership on the state, adding ''there are people who say 'no' to new mass migration. They are right, there shouldn't be new migration movements in order to sort out the migration problem. It is against humanity and justice. Therefore we have a strong cause, state and sovereignty. We can't give the cost of giving a quick decision due to the time pressure imposed on us. We will continue to walk on our way to sort out the problem rationally by acting together with Turkey and through negotiations. Carrying out negotiations does not mean accepting everything.''
Admission of Cyprus to EU without an agreement on the island will make Greek Cypriots a castle against Turkish Cypriots.
''They will build another castle to the one that already exists in the Greek Cypriots for 40 years... We can only talk on equal conditions. EU has to recognize our sovereignty and EU should treat us in the same way,'' he said.
Denktas said that the people suffered a lot, adding that he suffered himself too as he could not say anything to the people when he was in hospital in New York.
