ANTALYA - Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal said on Friday that ''if the decision taken by German Chancellor and French President is the decision to be taken at Copenhagen summit, it is not possible for us to accept it.''
Addressing his party officials, Baykal said that Turkey launched extraordinary efforts to abide by Helsinki and Copenhagen criteria and the parliament adopted important laws in the previous legislation term. It will be unfair to wait for the implementation of these laws, said Baykal adding that ''this is an unfair approach towards Turkey. In fact Turkey fulfilled the Copenhagen criteria. Turkey took serious steps. Countries which waited for candidacy together with Turkey started negotiations with EU years ago. Turkey was announced as candidate country three years ago, but we still wait for a date to start accession talks.''
