NEW YORK - Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent a message for Ramadan Bayram to TRNC President Rauf Denktas who is currently in New York.
Egemen Bagis, the AK Party deputy who is Erdogan's foreign policy consultant conveyed the message of Erdogan to Denktas.
Bagis said that there is continious contact between Erdogan and Denktas about the developments, adding that ''AK Party is pleased with the continuation of Denktas's compromising attitude.''
Bagis will proceed to Washington D.C. and he will accompany AK Party leader Erdogan during his visit to Washington D.C. and his meeting with U.S. President George W. Bush.
U.N. RECEIVES RESPONSES OF DENKTAS AND CLERIDES
U.N. Spokesman Stephane Dujarric said on Thursday that U.N. received the same day the responses of TRNC President Rauf Denktas and Greek Cypriot leader Glafcos Clerides about the Cyprus plan of U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan.
Responding to questions of journalists, U.N. spokesman said that the response of Denktas was submitted to U.N. European Department's Director General Angela King in New York and the response of Clerides was submitted in Cyprus.
Upon a question, Dujarric said that it was told to the Greek Cypriot side that the response of Denktas was received and then the Greek Cypriots submitted their letter.
U.N. will inform both sides about each other's letters.
Annan is expected to review his plan in line with the letters of both sides.
Meanwhile U.N. officials started to examine the views of both sides. U.N. sources said that the documents covering the reservations of both leaders are examined by U.N. special envoy for Cyprus Alvaro De Soto and his assistants.
U.N. hopes the two leaders to reach an agreement in principle for solution before Copenhagen summit. Yet the leaders announced that negotiations have to be held on points of objections before such an agreement.
