Grossman Believes There Will Be An Agreement In Cyprus

LEFKOSA - U.S. State Department Undersecretary Marc Grossman said on Wednesday that he believed there would be an agreement in Cyprus before December 12.
Grossman, who proceeded from Ankara to Cyprus, met with Greek Cypriot leader Glafcos Clerides.
Following the meeting, Grossman said that there was a historic opportunity for solution of Cyprus question and that it should not be missed.
Expressing belief that there would be an agreement on Cyprus before European Union (EU) Copenhagen Summit on December 12, Grossman noted that the United States supported the United Nations (U.N.) Cyprus plan.
Grossman stated that he previously held contacts in Ankara and that he saw that Turkish government was willing not to miss that opportunity.
Marc Grossman later proceeded to Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) and met with representatives of political parties.
Ilker Nevzat and Savas Atakan of National Unity Party, Democrat Party leader, TRNC State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Salih Cosar and member Ahmet Aker, Republican Turkish Party leader Mehmet Ali Talat, member Unal Findik, and Communal Liberation Party leader Huseyin Angolemli and member Gungor Gurkan attended the meeting.
No statement was released after the meeting.
