MOSCOW - Ankara expressed uneasiness over increase of opposition against Turkey in Russia.
Turkey's Ambassador to Russia Kurtulus Taskent met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Razov on Friday.
Several Russian authorities spread news that ''Turkey is not cooperating for fight against terrorism and supporting terrorists.'' Then, Turkey expressed its uneasiness against these news and increase of opposition against Turkey among Russian people to Moscow.
Diplomatic sources told A.A correspondent that ''some Russian authorities except the Foreign Ministry were creating an impression as if Turkey was backing terrorists with some unofficial statements made to the press.''
Turkish side noted that this was also observed in the statement about the hostage taking action that occured last month in Moscow and reminded that Russian authorities claimed that terrorists had phone conversation with Turkey during the hostage taking event.
An official said, ''only a phone conversation of the terrorists with Turkey is not enough to put forth that Turkey is backing terrorists. Everyone can call Turkey. Russia has not informed us about what this phone conversation was and which phone numbers were called although we requested some information. Russian officials led to publication of serious news that there was a phone conversation with Turkey while they did not activate cooperation mechanisms between the two countries, for example, they did not give us the phone numbers. If they had given, we would search them and make the necessary cooperation.''
The official noted that Turkey for many times told Russia that it was ready for cooperation in fight against terrorism and to do what is necessary by carefully examining every information that would be given by Russia.
They reiterated all these things in their last meeting, the official stated.
Sources quoted Taskent as telling Razov that ''cooperation mechanisms to fight terrorism should be efficiently be used between the two countries'' and that ''they were ready to evaluate every information that would be given by Russia.''
Taskent said, ''when there are cooperation mechanism and there are efficient cooperation opportunities to fight against terrorists and reveal the realities, when Turkey is ready to evaluate every information to be given by Russia, several Russian authorities make some news saying that Turkey is backing terrorism take place in the press. These news increase opposition against Turkey and we are very uneasy about this. No country can know what terrorism is and can be open and sincere about the need to counter terrorism like Turkey.''
Russia also gave positive respond to Turkey's proposal for activation of cooperation mechanisms.
There are cooperation mechanisms in both foreign ministries, intelligence and security units between the two countries.
