Yalcinbayir: If Date Is Given To Turkey At Copenhagen Summit, It Will Increase Our Motivation

ANKARA - State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Ertugrul Yalcinbayir said on Friday that he hoped Turkey would be given a negotiation date at Copenhagen Summit and added, ''if a date is given to Turkey, it will increase our motivation.''
Yalcinbayir, who attended a reception organized by the Association of Helsinki Citizens at Ankara's Hilton Hotel, said that they had majority of the seats in the parliament and added that they could amend the laws and also the Constitution but they would provide it with participation.
Stating that newly prepared 36-article package did not become a draft of the Council of Ministers yet, Yalcinbayir said that they were in favor of discussing of every issue.
Responding to the reporters' questions, Yalcinbayir said that economic criterion which was one of the criteria of EU could be measured mathematically and added that but it was difficult to assess whether political criteria were fulfiled or not.
Yalcinbayir said that they should take more important steps and stated that the two political parties in the parliament had this will.
Noting that Republican People's Party (CHP) and Justice and Development Party (AK Party) visited the countries in Europe, he said that the government worked in the country.
Yalcinbayir said that nongovernmental organizations visited the organizations in Europe and stated that he hoped Turkey to get a negotiation date at Copenhagen Summit.
Stating that Turkey fulfilled most of political criteria, Yalcinbayir said that deficiency was in the implementation and the government showed its will on the issue with its studies.
Yalcinbayir said that steps should be taken not only for getting a date but also for Turkish people and added that if a date was given to Turkey, it would increase their motivation.
