President Sezer Celebrates Hanukkah Festival Of Jews

ANKARA - President Ahmet Necdet Sezer congratulated on Friday Hannukkah festival of Turkish citizens of Jewish origin.
Issuing a message upon the Hannukkah festival, President Sezer said that festivals bring people closer to each other, adding ''I share the joy of our citizens of Jewish origin due to Hannukkah festival. This festival gives us the opportunity to express our appreciation and gratitude for their efforts and contributions to our society for 700 years.''
''We are also pleased by the fact that Jews and Muslims celebrate their holy festivals on the same days again this year. On such days we underline once again the importance of the need to unite on the basis of peace and tolerance in the whole Middle East,'' Sezer said.
