ANKARA - State Minister Ali Babacan who is in charge of economy, said on Tuesday that it is not possible to ensure economic stability without ensuring political stabilitiy.
Turkey should have rapid, safe and sustainable growth atmosphere as soon as possible he said in the hand-over ceremony held in the Treasury Undersecretariat.
Babacan took over the post from Masum Turker the same day.
Addressing the ceremony, State Minister Babacan said that Turkey has very important problems and that majority of these problems continued. He stressed that unemployment is also an important problem.
Babacan said that the way of preventing unemployment is to have more domestic and foreign investment, adding that ''this is the basis of our growth model.''
Babacan said that economic stability is the priority of the government for a sound growth, adding that they aim at decreasing the inflation, strengthening debt dynamics in a permanent way and at decreasing debt stocks.
Babacan said that the confidence atmosphere in the country has started to be formed, adding that one of the most important legs of the economy policy will be social policies. Babacan stressed that the latest economic crises in the country caused deep social problems in Turkey. Babacan stressed that these social problems have to be repaired and that this was one of their basic priorities.
Babacan said that there are many measures that will be taken for agriculture and real sector, adding that applications in this field should start as soon as possible.
Babacan said that the government's programme will be announced on Saturday.
Upon a question, Babacan said that he would go to New Delhi on Saturday for the economy ministers meeting of the G-20 countries.
Former State Minister Masum Turker said in his part that the Turkish economy faced big problems in the last years, adding that election economy was not implemented.
Turker wished success for Babacan in his post.
