Hijacker Told Police That His Main Goal Was To Hit Plane To High Buildings In Tel Aviv

ISTANBUL - Tawfiq Fukra who attempted to hijack the Israeli plane en route from Tel Aviv to Istanbul told the police on Monday that he aimed to hit the plane to high buildings in Tel Aviv, but he could not do that as he could not dare that.
Issuing a written statement on the issue, Istanbul Security Directorate said that the hijacker who was of Palestinian origin, who travelled with a Israeli passport and who is an Israeli citizen told the police in his preliminary questioning that he was an Israeli university student, he didn't come to Turkey before and that he didn't know anybody from Turkey.
''He told the police that as the price of the ticket was cheaper he preferred to buy a return ticket and he chose the plane to Istanbul, adding that he tried to hijack the plane to protest the Israeli occupation in Palestine since 1984. He tried to make his voice be heard by his protest, he said he didn't have any relation with any organization, he planned to hijack the plane on his own by getting inspiration from Sept. 11 attack in the U.S., he got information from internet to use the plane, his main goal was to hit the plane after getting into the cockpit, but he couldn't do that as he couldn't dare it. He added that he moved to the cockpit when the plane started to fly in Istanbul air space and when he was warned by the hostess he threatened the hostess by a knife, he told the hostess to open the cockpit, but the hostess screamed and he tried to open the cockpit on his own, and he was stopped by persons in the plane.''
