Erdogan Meets With Demirel

ANKARA - Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan paid a visit to former President Suleyman Demirel on Sunday.
Addressing journalists following the meeting, Erdogan said, ''Mr. Demirel congratulated us for success of the AK Party in the general elections. Today, I paid him a visit of courtesy. I want to benefit from his deep political experience.''
''We will hold similar contacts with non-governmental organizations and other political parties. These contacts will be an expression of our unity and integrity,'' he said.
When asked whether or not Demirel put forward some recommendations, Erdogan told reporters, ''of course. He made some recommendations about steps that are needed to be taken in the future.''
When asked whether or not he had proposed participation of leader of opposition party in monthly meetings of the National Security Council during his meeting with General Staff Chief General Hilmi Ozkok, Erdogan said, 'no, I did not make such a proposal.''
