Erdogan Proposes His Prime Minister Candidates To Sezer

ANKARA - Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Friday that he proposed his prime minister candidates to President Ahmet Necdet Sezer.
Following his meeting with Sezer, Erdogan told reporters that Sezer would evaluate the nominations and designate a person to form the government in the possible shortest time.
Erdogan said that he held contacts with the members of the Central Decision and Executive Board of his party and he expressed their views to Sezer.
''President Sezer said that he would designate a person to form the government as soon as possible. And, our meeting ended,'' Erdogan noted.

ERDOGAN SAYS HE DOESN'T THINK PRESIDENT WILL NOMINATE PRIME MINISTER ON FRIDAY
Following his meeting with the President, Erdogan held a press conference.
When asked whether or not the President would nominate a prime minister on Friday, Erdogan said, ''I think that the President would make an appointment as soon as possible. However, I don't suppose that he would do it today.''
Erdogan did not reply a question which said whether or not he knew whom the President would appoint.
When recalled of debates on the peace plan presented to the sides and when asked of AK Party's Cyprus policy, Erdogan said, ''at the moment, we are making a study in the commission we formed. You know that we have not taken over the government yet. Members of this commission will make necessary evaluations with the Foreign Ministry officials and technocrats. Later, we will put forward our clear opinions. Meanwhile, we will visit Cyprus tomorrow. We will pay a courtesy visit to Mr. Denktas to wish him quick recovery and we will also discuss these issues with him. Later, we will pay a visit to Greece. We hope that we would take right steps on path towards peace.''
Replying a question which said, ''Solana and other European officials expressed intention for solution of Cyprus and European Security and Defense Policy issues until the Copenhagen summit. Do you believe these issues can be solved until December 12?'' Erdogan said, 'we have to believe. If you don't believe, you can't be successful. Now, we focus on and believe in success. Believing that we would get a favorable, just and lasting result at the Copenhagen summit on December 12 for our country, we are taking our steps.''
Responding a question about his meeting with General Staff Chief General Hilmi Ozkok later in the day, Erdogan said issues like Iraq could be discussed at that meeting.
Meanwhile, AK Party deputy leader Abdulkadir Aksu told reporters after the meeting at the Presidential Palace that President Sezer could make an appointment on Saturday.
