Contacts Between Turkey And Israel For Manavgat Peace Water Project Continue

ANTALYA - The contacts between Turkey and Israel within the scope of ''Manavgat Peace Water Project'' continue in a positive way.
The sides wait for clarification of the political atmosphere in both countries for the sale of the water to Israel.
Meanwhile, it has been reported that some other Mediterranean countries also want to buy the peace water.
State Water Works (DSI) Directorate General officials said that there is no new information or change within the project except the contacts held between the two sides one month ago. Officials said that the Turkish side would go to Israel, but they were waiting for the foundation of the new government, the appointment of the new Energy and Natural Resources Minister in Turkey.
Noting that the elections were also held in Israel, the officials said that ''we wait for clarification of the political atmosphere both in Turkey and in Israel.'' The total capacity of Manavgat Dam is 180 million cubic meters and the half of that is water and the other half is purified water, officials said adding that 50 million cubic meters of the 90 million cubic meters purified water would be sold to Israel.
DSI officials said that certain Mediterranean countries such as Egypt, Libya, Jordan and Greece unofficially demanded to buy Manavgat water.
