Erdogan Criticizes 57th Government For Its Economic Policy

ISTANBUL - Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized on Tuesday the 57th government for its economic policy.
Addressing the ceremonies held in Pendik district upon the opening of Pendik Central Social Facilities, and upon Pendik municipality's getting ISO 9001:2000 document, Erdogan recalled that his party has not yet founded the new government.
''When we set up the government, we will do our best,'' said Erdogan and noted that the economic crisis in Turkey still continued.
''The 57th government thinks that they worked too hard for the banks which were transferred to the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund. I don't believe that, because we got 30 billion dollars from IMF, its 8 billion dollars were used for paying the debts and 22 billion dollars were used to meet the loss of the banks which were transferred to the Savings Deposit Insurance Fund. How can this poor nation be forced to pay the loss of the banks which were owned by 30-40 bosses? Don't we have the right to account for it?'' Erdogan said.
Erdogan noted that whenever his party won the elections, they started an initiative for the EU membership issue of Turkey and he met with ambassadors of EU countries in Ankara. Erdogan said that serious progress has to be recorded until the Copenhagen summit.
Erdogan said that the opposition party and the president have also launched efforts for EU issue, adding that ''we will maintain our resolution for EU membership by the support of NGOs.''
