WASHINGTON - U.S. State Department said that the solution plan which United Nations (U.N.) Secretary General Kofi Annan presented to the sides in Cyprus was a historical opportunity and added that Turkish and Greek Cypriots should take a decision on the plan soon.
U.S. State Department Spokesman Richard Boucher said that the United States fully supported the U.N.'s Cyprus plan, stating that they thought that it was a historical opportunity on Cyprus prior to the Copenhagen Summit to be held in December.
Boucher noted that Turkish and Greek sides should examine carefully the proposal and take a decision on it soon.
