DATCA - The eldest settlement place of the Datca Peninsula will be brought into daylight as a result of the excavations carried out in Knidos Burgaz region carried out joinly by Culture Ministry and the Middle East Technical University (METU) Historical Environment Research Center.
Prof. Numan Tuna, the head of the excavation team, and lecturer of METU Classical Archeology Department, told A.A correspondent that Burgaz ruins were spread to a region nearly 40 hectares of field.
Tuna said, ''Burgaz settlement belongs to third quarter of B.C. 400 century. Burgaz must have been deserted B.C. 340. It has been understood that there were storing and harbour loading activities in coastal regions, and agricultural activities in other sections.''
Tuna said, ''in the first half of 5th century B.C., the settlement was re-arranged. Houses having courts can be seen in the region.''
