ANKARA - Life in Kabul was revived after Turkey took over the command of International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) with accelerated construction, repair, education and health activities.
According to the web-page of the General Staff, 130 projects have been accomplished in Afghan capital Kabul with the contributions of ISAF under Turkey's command.
A total of 72 education projects, 14 health projects, 11 city water rehabilitation projects, 10 infrastructural projects and 23 agricultural projects have been completed in ISAF so far.
A total of 21 education, 6 health, 10 construction, 6 water projects and 12 other projects in several fields have reached the stage of completion in cooperation and coordination with national people and local administrators as well as international, national and non-governmental organizations and ISAF command while 70 projects have been planned.
Below listed the activities fulfilled with the assistance of countries taking part in ISAF, aid organizations and individuals after Turkey took over the ISAF command on June 20, 2002:
- Repair of Yakatoot High School and Rabia Bakhi School in Kabul,
- Restoration of Kabul Military Hospital Rehabilitation Center and technical document assistance,
- Repair of historical Shahe Du Shamshera Mosque in Kabul,
- Construction of three children playing grounds,
- Distribution of baby food,
- Opening water wells in different regions, chlorinating water, building a water depot and assembling water pumps,
- Distribution of toys, stationery materials and desks and chairs to kindergardens and schools,
- Dispatch of medical and health equipment to hospitals,
- Repair of clinics, hospitals and schools,
- Repair and construction of kindergardens.
