BERLIN - Justice and Development Party (AK Party) deputy leader Abdullah Gul said on Saturday that they might support a possible operation against Iraq in case the United Nations (U.N.) takes decision.
Speaking to German Der Spiegel maganize, Gul said, ''mass destruction weapons of Iraq directly threatens Turkey. To this end, in case the U.N. takes decision, we may support a possible operation against Iraq.
Pointing out that the main target of the government, which will be newly founded in Turkey, would be the EU membership, Gul said, ''the EU should soon start full membership negotiations with Turkey and should not keep Turkey at the waiting room.''
Gul made a call to Turkish citizens living in Germany and said, ''get harmonized with the German society, learn Germany and get engaged with Germany's political system.''
Calling on the Turkish citizens living in Germany not to get very much interested in the policy in Turkey, Gul said, ''it is not wise to confuse the incidents.''
