Higher Election Board Announces Final Election Results

ANKARA - Higher Election Board (YSK) announced on Saturday final results of the November 3 general elections.
YSK Chairman Tufan Algan told a press conference that Justice and Development Party (AK Party) and Republican People's Party (CHP) gained votes required to pass the electoral threshold and enter parliament in the elections.
Algan said that AK Party, who got 34.29 percent of votes, gained 363 seats at the parliament while CHP, who gained 19.38 percent of votes, will occupy 178 seats.
Nine of the independent candidates, who got one percent of total votes, achieved to enter parliament, Algan noted.
Algan stated that the parliament would convene at 3.00 p.m. on the fifth day following this announcement of final decisions under the third article of the parliamentary by-laws.
Thus, the parliament will convene at 3.00 p.m. on Thursday.
