LET'S GO TO COPENHAGEN AS A TRIO
President Ahmet Necdet Sezer asked Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal and the prime minister to accompany him during the European Union (EU) Copenhagen summit. During his meeting with Baykal, Sezer said, ''it is good that you are cooperating for the EU membership. It will be useful if you also take joint action in the following stages.'' Sezer also said, ''it will be beneficial if you also go to Copenhagen. I also told this to Erdogan.'' In this case, Sezer, the prime minister and Baykal will attend the Copenhagen summit.

LET'S LIFT ERDOGAN'S BAN
Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal proposed a constitutional amendment bill comprised of three articles to Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The bill includes lifting of political ban, lifting of immunity and holding general elections every four years.

SEZER TO CHOSE ERDOGAN'S CANDIDATE
The tension between President Ahmet Necdet Sezer and AK Party leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan about the prime ministry candidate which took place before the elections has ended. Following the meeting of President Sezer with Erdogan and CHP leader Deniz Baykal separately yesterday, it has been stated that President Sezer would appoint the prime minister by consulting with Erdogan.

CILLER: ANAP SHOULD UNITE WITH DYP
True Path Party (DYP) leader Tansu Ciller who said that the central right is represented by DYP, not by the Motherland Party (ANAP) noted that ''ANAP has to realize this fact and a reconstruction process between the two parties has to start.'' Ciller reiterated that she wouldn't run for candidacy to become the leader of the party again during the party's next congress. DYP couldn't enter the parliament as it was below the ten percent threshold during the elections.

Justice and Development Party (AKP) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan said in his meeting with EU countries' ambassadors to Turkey that ''we will show to the whole world that Islam and democracy will coexist peacefully.'' Erdogan gave many promises to EU countries' ambassadors in the dinner such as ''constitution will be amended with social compromise in line with the national programme for adoption of acquis, the right to freedom of expression, conscience and to get organized will be further broadened, the shortcomings in the reform laws will be overcome soon, the decisions of the European Court of Human Rights will be immediately implemented, no tolerance will be shown to torture, activities of foreign and domestic associations will be easier, there will be no problem in religious foundation's acquiring properties and an Integration Commission for EU will be founded in the parliament as soon as possible.''

STANDARD&POORS INCREASES CREDIT MARK OF TURKEY
Standard and Poor's Ratings Services revised its outlook on Turkey from negative to stable. At the same time, Standard and Poor's affirmed its single 'B'-minus long-term and 'C' short-term ratings.
''The outlook revision reflects Standard and Poor's view that the risk of events leading to a downgrade is now well balanced by the prospect of a more stable and effective government in Turkey,'' said Standard and Poor's credit analyst Ala's Al-Yousuf. The rating action comes after Justice and Development Party (AK Party) won by a margin in the parliamentary elections on November 3, 2002, giving it a parliamentary majority.

AKP AND CHP'S JOINT STEP FOR EU
Justice and Development Party (AKP) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan said that President Ahmet Necdet Sezer told him that the solidarity between the ruling and opposition parties regarding international issues will make the country stronger. Erdogan stressed that AKP and CHP delegations could go together to the Copenhagen summit in December.

SEZER-ERDOGAN TENSION ENDS
The meeting between President Ahmet Necdet Sezer and AK Party leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Presidential Palace has softened the political atmosphere in Cankaya. President Sezer announced by his chief adviser Talcan Ildem that he would take the views of AK Party administration while appointing the prime minister. Ildem said after Sezer-Erdogan meeting that the appointment will be made after announcement of the final election results by Higher Election Board and after the oath-taking ceremony. Meanwhile, Sezer praised the communication between the ruling and opposition parties during the meeting.

CLEAR MESSAGES TO EUROPE AK Party leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with ambassadors of EU countries in a dinner at Danish Embassy in Ankara. Erdogan told the ambassadors that Turkey wanted to get a negotiation date from the EU in the EU summit in December and they would work in cooperation with the opposition party to this end. ''EU has to be sincere towards Turkey, if a date is taken by Turkey, its motivation will also increase. Erdogan also submitted the plan of Turkey to comply with Copenhagen criteria to EU ambassadors and noted that ''even if a date is not given to Turkey, we regard compliance with political criteria as a virtue of humanity.''

Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who said that they would reduce the number of ministries, noted that he would end allocating houses to public personnel free of charge and fight against corruption. Erdogan noted that they would revive construction sector. Erdogan stated that paid military service could also be put into practice with the positive consent of the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK).

CILLER'S ROOM TO BE GIVEN TO ERDOGAN
The former room of True Path Party (DYP) leader Tans Ciller, who could not pass the electoral threshold, in the parliament will be given to Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The former room of Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) will be given to Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal while the room that formerly belonged to Democratic Left Party (DSP) leader Bulent Ecevit will be given to National Education Commission.

PEARSON SAYS ERDOGAN'S U.N. CONDITION FOR IRAQ IS NOT AGAINST OUR POLICY
U.S. Ambassador to Turkey Robert Pearson supported Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan's statement that they were in favor of a solution approved by the United Nations (U.N.) related with Iraqi issue. U.S. State Department Spokesman Boucher said that they did not ask for anybody's support for a war and reacted to Erdogan.

INVESTORS ENTHUSIASTIC WITH SIGNAL THAT RATING TO BE INCREASED
Positive atmosphere in the markets continue as the Treasury started to sell bonds in foreign markets and the international rating organization Standard and Poor's (S&P) upgraded Turkey's rating from negative to stable. Markets considered this step of S&P as ''a signal that Turkey's rating could be increased.'' The index increased 12.52 percent to 13 thousand 472 points and recorded highest closure since the last 10 months. One U.S. dollar decreased to 1 million 612 thousand Turkish liras (TL) in interbank market while the bond interest rates fell two percent.
