WASHINGTON D.C - Chief of General Staff Gen. Hilmi Ozkok said on Monday that he would not make comment on the result obtained by Justice and Development Party (AK Party) from the elections.
Gen. Ozkok arrived in Washington D.C. as the official guest of the U.S. Chief of General Staff Gen. Richard Myers.
When asked about the results obtained by AK Party from the elections, Gen. Ozkok said, ''you know I don't make comment on that issue. We had democratic elections in a normal procedure. The results are the wish of our people. I only respect it.''
Gen. Ozkok is expected to meet with military officials, the U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell, the U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney, and the U.S. President George Bush's National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice.
Responding to a question asking about the items of his agenda, Gen. Ozkok said, ''we guess Iraqi issue will be discussed. European Security and Defense Identity (ESDI) is also expected to be discussed. Cooperation in defense industry, military exercises and contacts are also on the agenda.''
Gen. Ozkok is expected to return to Turkey on November 10.
