PARIS - French Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin said on Monday that France would carefully watch the policies of the new government.
''Naturally we will carefully examine concrete changes such as the formation of the new government and its policies in Turkey and we will make an evaluation after getting an idea,'' Raffarin said.
Noting that Turkey launches important efforts to come closer to the EU, Raffarin said that these efforts have to continue.
Raffarin said that Turkey has an important character as it is secular, adding that ''we think that Turkey has come to an important stage in its history. We will see the work of the new government in Turkey.''
