IZMIT - Search efforts to find two captains who are missing in the accident which took place when a Sea Hawk type helicopter crashed into Sapanca Lake in Esme hamlet of Izmit province were suspended.
Kocaeli Governor Erdal Ata told the A.A correspondent on Monday that 18-member Sakarya Civilian Defense Directorate team, 10-member Kocaeli Civilian Defense Directorate team, six-member Izmit Municipality fire department team and 15-member Naval Force Commandership team participated in the search efforts to find the two captains namely, Hakan Imamoglu and Zafer Dilmen.
Stating that two zodiacs and two boats were also attending the efforts, Ata said, ''the helicopter is in about 60 meter depth. The teams reached 35 meter depth of the lake during the search and rescue efforts. But the efforts were suspended because it got dark and the temperature of the lake decreased. The search and rescue efforts will continue on Tuesday morning.''
