Baykal: We Wanted To Be Ruling On Our Own But We Became Opposition On Our Own

ANKARA - Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal said on Monday that, ''we wanted to be the ruling on our own, but now we became the opposition on our own.''
Baykal responded to the questions of reporters at Ankara's Airport on his arrival from southern Antalya province.
Pointing out that Turkey should not enter regime discussions again, Baykal said, ''I hope the ruling will do its best to prevent reaching a point where there are discussions for secularism. We will do our best.''
Recalling that Justice and Development Party (AK Party) got the opportunity to found the government, Baykal congratulated AK Party and wished them success.
Baykal said CHP got its place in the parliament after 3,5 years, stressing that they increased their votes. He said they targeted to get a better result but deserved this.
Baykal said they respected the decision of the nation, noting that they would work from now on in line with this decision.
Responding to a question about the new structure of the Parliament, Baykal said, ''it is a very big problem that 45 percent of the society is not reflected in the parliament. I think it would not be right to see this as legal legitimacy. To this end, I don't find it appropriate to open a discussion of legitimacy.''
Baykal said they would exert efforts as a constructive opposition party, and that they would not create problems. He said Turkey already has many problems, and that they would not increase those problems.
Pointing out that they would work with good will, Baykal said they would contribute to the solutions of problems.
