ANKARA - Justice and Development Party leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan has said that they would exert efforts to remove deficiencies and take steps for a fully functional democracy.
Erdogan and his wife Emine Erdogan and his senior aides Abdulkadir Aksu and Vecdi Gonul have arrived from Istanbul to Ankara by a private plane at 01.15 hours.
At Ankara's Esenboga Airport, Erdogan was welcomed by AK Party supporters who called him ''Prime Minister Erdogan''.
Speaking to reporters at the airport, Erdogan said that they were expecting such election results, adding, ''although definite results have not been reached yet, I suppose that expected results have already more or less become clear.''
''I hope that final results would be this way. The steps we will take for a healthy democracy will be more rapid. However, I want to mention here that we will exert efforts to remove deficiencies and take steps for a fully functional democracy. The issue about which we are sensitive is that we will try to get opinions of all civil organizations whether or not they have representatives in the parliament. We will try to fulfill our responsibilities and meet their demands,'' he said.
''The important thing is that Turkey, as a country of freedoms, should immediately overcome economic problems. Our prior target is to eliminate corruption and removal poverty,'' Erdogan added.
Erdogan said, ''we are aware of problems of our people in the fields of education, health, agriculture and husbandry. We will solve these problems with a collective working programme.''
''We will announce our preparations to the public opinion as a schedule soon. Our friends can make this statement after undertaking their duties officially. Therefore, our authorized boards will hold meetings during the next few days,'' he said.
Noting that supporters of the AK Party would never prefer incitement and insulting, Erdogan said that they would act with common-sense and start serving the country as soon as possible.
