MANISA - Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Parliamentary Group Chairman Bulent Arinc has said that Turkey is a secular and democratic state of laws, adding, ''we are loyal to these principles.''
Speaking to reporters in Aegean Manisa province early on Monday, Arinc said that he was elected AK Party parliamentarian from Manisa and that their target is to honestly serve Turkey.
''Today's results have shown that our people are in favor of us. They have shown kind regard to us. We are grateful and indebted to them. We are also indebted to those who raised difficulties in front of us. Second article of the Constitution mention the characteristics of the Republic of Turkey. Turkey is a secular and democratic state of laws. We are loyal to these principles. We don't have any grudge against anybody and we don't have any feeling to take revenge. Our leader earlier stated that we are coming to the power for construction, not for destruction,'' Arinc said.
Noting that democratization and broadening of basic rights and freedoms would be fulfilled with a compromise at the parliament, Arinc said, ''we are coming to the power alone with the biggest ever rate of votes since 1950. We will have four hundred parliamentarians. These can't be ignored. Voters have erased unsuccessful politicians one by one.''
Arinc added that they don't have any intention to argue with the President and quarrel with the state institutions and that they have the power to get vote of confidence with 15 million votes and 400 parliamentarians.
