Chief Of General Staff Ozkok To Visit United States

WASHINGTON D.C./ANKARA - Chief of General Staff Hilmi Ozkok will visit the United States between November 4 and 9, 2002 as the guest of U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Richard Myers.
Ozkok will have meetings with U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney, U.S. President George Bush's National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice and U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell.
General Ozkok will also hold contacts with U.S. Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld, U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz and Myers in Pentagon.
He is also expected to come together with Gen. Tommy Franks, Commander in Chief of the U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM).
General Secretariat of General Staff also issued a written statement about Gen. Ozkok's visit to the U.S. saying that Ozkok will also visit Kennedy Space Centre.
During his contacts, the Turkish-U.S. military cooperation issues and regional developments are expected to be taken up.
Chief of General Staff Ozkok's visit to the United States had been scheduled for 2000, but it was delayed because the so-called Armenian Genocide draft resolution was brought onto the agenda of U.S. House of Representatives.
