NEW YORK - The United Nations (U.N.) Secretary General Kofi Annan paid a ''get well soon'' visit to President Rauf Denktas of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), who had a heart surgery in New York.
Annan visited Denktas in the hotel where he was resting after being discharged from hospital. Annan's visit lasted for nearly 40 minutes.
TRNC Presidency Undersecretary Ergun Olgun, who responded to the questions of A.A correspondent after the visit, pointed out that Annan's visit took place in a sincere atmosphere, and that Annan got information about the condition of Denktas.
Pointing out that Kofi Annan has a positive dialogue with Denktas so far, Olgun said Cyprus talks were not taken up during the visit.
Doctors will decide for the departure date of Denktas from New York following examinations on Friday.
