ISTANBUL - Greek football team Panathinaikos which will have a match with Fenerbahce on October 31, Thursday, came to Istanbul on Tuesday.
The Greek team was welcomed by Fenerbahce administrators with flowers in Istanbul's Ataturk Airport.
Addressing people in the airport, Panathinaikos's club director Aggelos Filippidis said that the match is a good start for the two countries which want to organise 2008 European Football Championship together.
''This match will be a match of peace,'' he said, adding that he hoped the match between the two teams to give a good message to the two countries and the world. ''Turkey and Greece will be successful in organizing EURO 2008 together,'' he said.
The coach of the team Sergio Markarian said in his part that the match would be one of friendship.
A total of 25 Greek journalists came to Istanbul to cover the match.
Nearly 2,000 Greek citizens are also expected to come to Istanbul to watch the match.
