Human Rights Activists Send Protest Letter To Russian President

ISTANBUL - A group of people who are members of Association of Human Rights (IHD) in Istanbul sent a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday protesting the operation in Moscow.
The group headed by IHD's Istanbul branch chairman Kiraz Bicici wanted to make a press release in front of Russian Consulate in Istanbul in Beyoglu district. Security forces which took security measures around the consulate building, didn't permit the group to approach the building.
Bicici read out the letter on behalf of the group in a place far away from the Consulate. The letter condemned the Chechen activists' acts of violence against civilians during the theatre raid and noted that the operation launched by the Russian forces was also dreadful as it caused the killing of many civilian people.
The IHD said in its letter that the use of chemical gases in the operation was also a crime against humanity.
The letter was put in the mailbox of the Russian Consulate.
The group later dispersed.
