COPENHAGEN - President Ahmet Necdet Sezer came to Copenhagen, Denmark on Sunday to attend the meeting of EU candidate countries.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sukru Sina Gurel also arrived in Copenhagen together with President Sezer.
President Sezer will attend the meeting that will bring together leaders of the EU candidate countries upon the initiative of Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen.
During the meeting, Rasmussen will give information to EU candidate countries about the EU summit which was held in Brussels three days ago.
President Sezer is expected to voice the expectations of Turkey about the next stage of its candidacy to the EU.
Sezer is also expected to have a meeting with Rasmussen on Monday and discuss the Turkey-EU relations.
After the luncheon with leaders of 13 candidate countries, Rasmussen will hold a news conference with EU Commission President Romano Prodi, EU Commissioner for Enlargement Guenter Verheugen and EU High Commissioner for Foreign Policy and Joint Defense Javier Solana.
EU is also expected to bring onto agenda the last proposal presented to Turkey about the European Security and Defense Policy (ESDP).
Sezer will return to Turkey on Monday evening.
