ISTANBUL - AK Party leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Wednesday about the application of Chief Prosecutor Kanadoglu to the Constitutional Court asking for closure of AK Party that ''the Turkish democracy received a new and heavy blow.''
Responding to questions of journalists about the application of Supreme Court of Appeals' Chief Prosecutor Sabih Kanadoglu against his party, Erdogan said that ''this closure case won't negatively affect our party both legally and politically.''
AK PARTY LEADER ERDOGAN ATTENDS EU AMBASSADORS' MEETING
Erdogan attended on Wednesday the meeting of the EU countries' ambassadors to Turkey and he explained the policies of his party and the things his party will do if it comes to power.
Erdogan has been the guest politician of the regular meeting of 15 EU countries' ambassadors to Turkey which was held in Irish Embassy in Ankara this time.
AK Party deputy leaders Vecdi Gonul and Yasar Yakýs also attended the meeting. Erdogan made a presentation in the first part of the meeting and later he responded to the questions of the ambassadors.
No statement was issued to the press about the meeting.
AK PARTY DEPUTY LEADER GEDIKLI:''WE DO NOT BELIEVE THAT OUR PARTY WILL BE CLOSED''
Gedikli said on Wednesday that his party does not believe that AK party would be closed.
Responding to a question in a meeting about the closure case filed by Supreme Court of Appeals Chief Prosecutor Sabih Kanadoglu against AK Party, Gedikli said that AK Party leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan resigned from the AK Party Founding Board upon the warning of the Constitutional Court, adding that ''this was the thing wanted from us in the decision of the Constitutional Court and we did that.''
Upon another question asking AK Party's candidate for prime ministry, Gedikli didn't want to make comment.
