Bush Calls Sezer

WASHINGTON D.C - U.S. President George W. Bush called President Ahmet Necdet Sezer on Wednesday and the two presidents took up cooperation on the Iraqi issue and other issues.
White House Spokesman Ari Fleischer told reporters in a news conference that Bush started the day by calling President Sezer. ''Bush took up a series of issues from the Balkans to the Caucasus, Central Asia and Afghanistan. The two leaders discussed cooperation on Iraq. They agreed on the need for Iraq to comply fully with the United Nations Security Council resolutions.''
Ari Fleischer said that Bush and Sezer also discussed Cyprus issue, support to Turkey on the way to EU membership, and the success of Turkey in implementing the sound economic reforms.
When asked if President Sezer voiced his concerns about the use of Incirlik base in case of a military operation in Iraq, Fleischer said that he was not in a position to characterize the words of Turkish President.
