ISTANBUL - Oyak Renault Director General Dominique Correze has said that the number of countries to which they made exports would increase from 55 to 75 with the new Megane Sedan model that they would start producing in 2003.
Holding a meeting with reporters on Tuesday, Correze and Renault Mais Director General Ibrahim Aybar gave information about the company's activities.
Correze stressed that they were hopeful about the future of automotive industry in Turkey, adding, ''during my meeting with the Toyota Director General, he told me that they have serious investments projects in Turkey.''
Dominique Correze said that they were making an investment worth more than 150 million U.S. dollars under the project of new Megane Sedan which was produced only in Turkey.
''The production under the new Megane project will start in April of 2003. Besides, we developed the first prototypes on last Monday. And these cars will be in the market in September of 2003. We are currently exporting cars to 55 countries and we will increase this number to 75 with the new Megane Sedan,'' he said.
Noting that total production would increase over to 100 thousand cars, Correze said that exports of engines and spare parts in addition Clio Symbol were under way and that they had entered new markets.
Stating that they were preparing Clio Symbol for new markets including the Gulf and Middle Eastern countries, Correze stressed that Oyak-Renault had started to export spare parts to Nissan in Mexico and that their spare parts had started to be used in some models in Mexico.
