ANKARA - The resignation of Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan from the party's founding board was conveyed to the Chief Prosecutor's Office on Tuesday.
Upon question of A.A correspondent, AK Party Secretary General Ertugrul Yalcýnbayýr said that the petition of Erdogan on his resignation from the party's founding board was conveyed to the Prosecutor's Office the same day.
''The practice about Erdogan's being the leader of the party continues. Under Article 161 of party regulation, it is possible to be the leader of the party without being the member of the party's founding board. We explained the situation to the Prosecutor's Office. If they have a different opinion, we will also assess that,'' he said.
