First International Mediterranean Food Arts Festival Starts

IZMIR - First International Mediterranean Food Arts Festival started on Tuesday.
Culture Minister Suat Caglayan who delivered a speech in the opening of the festival said that the countries which attended the festival brought peace and friendship, not their cuisine culture alone.
Noting that there has always been a peace message in presenting homemade food and there is peace and love in olive which is the basic nourishment stuff of Mediterranean cuisine, Caglayan added that olive tree is the basic tree of settled culture.
He said that traditional cultures, especially cuisine culture, should be protected in globalization process, and added that Mediterranean cuisine culture does not become widespread enough.
Meanwhile, Mediterranean Cuisines Conservatory Turkey Branch Director Hasan Acanal said that ''food'', ''art'', ''culture'', ''love'' and ''Mediterranean excitement'' will exist in the festival.
Acanal said that Turkey, France, Italy, Greece, Israel, Tunisia and Spain attended the festival with their cuisine and the United States, Lebanon, Britain and Japan will be the observer countries in the festival which will end on October 27.
