Cem: We Cannot Send Our Young People To War For Oil Business

ZONGULDAK - New Turkey Party (YTP) leader Ismail Cem said on Tuesday, ''we cannot send our young people to war for oil business.''
Cem, who visited northern Zonguldak province as a part of his election campaign, responded to questions of reporters.
Asked what Turkey's attitude should be in case of a U.S. intervention in Iraq, Cem said that the word ''war'' was not irresponsibly used in any other country than Turkey.
Cem noted that Turkey would surely enter a war if a legal defense or country's security was in question.
''But, we cannot send our young people to war for oil business,'' Cem said.
Cem criticized the attitude of other political party leaders and added, ''nobody can speak so empty about important issues like security and war.''
