18th Comcec Meeting Begins In Istanbul

ISTANBUL - The 18th meeting of Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation (COMCEC) of the Organization of Islamic Conference (OIC) began in Istanbul on Tuesday.
COMCEC high-level experts convened under the chairmanship of State Planning Organization (DPT) Undersecretary Akin Izmirlioglu.
Developments in the world economy, developments in implementation of economic cooperation action plan, commercial relations among member countries to the OIC, relations with the World Trade Organization (WTO), preparatory works for the meeting of private sectors of Islam countries, investments of private sector in member countries, and role of Islamic Development Bank will be discussed at the meeting.
The participants will take up the issues on the agenda of COMCEC, and prepare draft resolutions to be submitted to the ministerial session at the meeting which will last for two days.
President Ahmet Necdet Sezer will preside the opening session of COMCEC on October 24.
Turkey will be represented by a delegation headed by State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Devlet Bahceli at the meeting in which the delegations of 57 member countries of COMCEC will participate.
