Minimum Wage Fixing Commission To Convene

ANKARA - The Minimum Wage Fixing Commission will convene on Tuesday, October 22.
The commission will convene upon Labor and Social Security Minister Nejat Arseven's call and it will start work on fixing the new minimum wage that will be valid as of January 1, 2003.
The commission is expected to continue its works after the elections on November 3 while sources said that opinion of the new government would be influential over fixing of the new minimum wage.
The commission is comprised of 15 members, five of them are representatives of workers, five of them are representatives of employers and five of them are government representatives.
The minimum is currently gross 250 million 875 thousand Turkish liras (TL) and net 184 million 251 thousand 937 TL for workers over 16 years old while it is gross 213 million 210 thousand TL and net 157 million 264 thousand 965 TL for workers below 16 years old.
