DIYARBAKIR - Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan said on Saturday they favored preservation of Iraq's territorial integrity.
Speaking to people in southeastern Diyarbakir province in election campaign, Erdogan said Turkey had suffered during the previous intervention against Iraq, stressing that Turkey still suffers from this. He said, ''we don't have the power to pay this cost again.''
Erdogan said AK Party was the first party which demanded abolishment of death sentence within the framework of EU adjustment bill. Erdogan claimed that some parties ''distorted'' this in the process in parliament, stressing that the parties politicized this incident.
Meanwhile police captured two people from Democratic People's Party (DEHAP) who tried to hold protest demonstration by opening placards during Erdogan's election campaign.
