Pearson: An Order Should Be Established In Northern Iraq

ANKARA - U.S. Ambassador in Ankara Robert Pearson said on Wednesday that any order that would be established in Northern Iraq should represent all the groups in the region.
Pearson, who addressed ''3rd Security of East Mediterranean Conference'', held by Eurasia Strategic Researches Center (ASAM), pointed out that the United States wanted Iraq to be totally purified from mass destruction weapons, stressing that use of force would be the last remedy.
Underlining that Iraq should abide by the U.N. resolutions and standards, Pearson said an order should be established in Northern Iraq where all the groups living there are represented jointly. He said the region could not be left only to the Kurds.
Pointing out that they did not have the authority to approve the constitutional arrangement text held in Northern Iraq, Pearson referred to the statements of the U.S. President George Bush regarded with Iraq, and reiterated that military operation would be the last alternative for them.
Pearson said the U.N. has definite standards and that their pressure would continue till Iraq abides by those standards.
