IZMIR - Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Sukru Sina Gurel said on Tuesday that any U.S. operation against Iraq would give the biggest damage to Turkey.
Pointing out that they were currently making evaluations regarded with the possible losses Turkey may suffer, Gurel said they would call for compensation of those losses.
Gurel added that they closely covered the developments in Northern Iraq.
Gurel also said he conveyed the views of Turkey regarding terrorist KADEK organization to the foreign ministers of the countries which are the European Union (EU) members.
Pointing out that KADEK was set up in the same week when the EU included PKK in the list of terrorist organizations, Gurel said KADEK also held terrorist activities, and that it should be included in the EU's list of ''terrorist organizations.''
Gurel said, ''we have conveyed our views to the EU side regarded with KADEK. If the EU wants to oppose threat of terrorism and contribute to the fight against terrorism, it should take a step in this respect. The EU that has failed to take this step so far, is late to know and introduce KADEK as it is, and thus gives damage to international fight against terrorism, and Turkey-EU relations.''
