ANTALYA - Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) Euro-2008 inspection team visited Ataturk Stadium and the area where a new stadium will be constructed in Antalya on Monday.
The team which completed its inspections in Izmir came to Antalya province for Euro-2008 which Turkey and Greece want to co-host.
Antalya Governor Ertugrul Dokuzoglu, Mayor Bekir Kumbul and Football Federation Antalya Regional Director Sadik Deda welcomed UEFA team at the airport.
The inspection team which is headed by UEFA National Teams Committee member Frantisec Laurinec includes Supreme Project official Jurgen Muller, Project Manager Marcus Schmid, UEFA Activities Director Stephanie Theinz, UEFA Stadiums Committee member Cees De Bruin, Football Federation Executive Board member Levent Kizil and UEFA and Stadium Security Committee member Metin Kamancioglu.
The team inspected 300,000 square-meters area where the new stadium will be constructed in Yesilbayir Municipality.
Kizil said that the UEFA delegation was very pleased with its visits in Izmir and Antalya.
Kizil stated that Antalya would have a 42,000-person stadium, if Turkey and Greece co-hosted the 2008 European Football Championship.
UEFA delegation later visited Dokuzoglu in his office.
Dokuzoglu informed the team about Antalya.
