Musharraf Says They Are In Favour Of A Peaceful Solution In Iraq

ISTANBUL - Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf said on Monday that Pakistan was in favor of a peaceful solution in Iraq.
Musharraf, who attended the Seventh Heads of State Summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) in Istanbul, held a press conference.
Pervez Musharraf said that Iraq had to fulfil demands of the United Nations (U.N.)
Upon a question on the content of his meeting with President Ahmet Necdet Sezer, Musharraf said that they took up Kashmir dispute between Pakistan and India, developments in Afghanistan and situation of some Turkish companies working in Pakistan.
Musharraf noted that they also took up the reflections of further improvement of cooperation and friendship on economy.
Upon a question about Afghanistan, Musharraf said that Pakistani and American soldiers worked in cooperation and that the Pakistani soldiers also ensured security on the Afghan border.
When asked his view about the military operation planned to be launched against Iraq, Musharraf said that Pakistan was in favor of a peaceful solution.
Noting that he believes in the national sovereignty of Pakistan and the territorial integrity of Iraq, Musharraf said that Iraq has to fulfill the obligations requested by the U.N.
