ANKARA - Justice and Development Party (AK Party) Board of Founders will convene on Thursday and fulfill requirements of the warning of the Constitutional Court.
The Constitutional Court had asked the party to end founder membership of AK Party leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan as he could not be a founder member since he was not competent to be elected as a deputy until October 19.
AK Party will take up the resignation of Erdogan from founder membership on Thursday and accept his resignation to fulfil requirements of warning of the Constitutional Court.
Erasing Erdogan's founder membership from party registrations will be notified to the Supreme Court Chief Prosecutor's Office on Friday.
AK Party has 73 founder members including Erdogan. The Board of Founders is comprised of 128 people, including the deputies.
