Blue Stream Project Nearing Its End

ANKARA - The Blue Stream project which will transfer natural gas from Russia to Turkey though a pipeline that is installed on the sea ground of the Black Sea is nearing its end.
At a ceremony that will be held on Oct. 20, the pipeline that is installed on the sea ground of Black Sea and the second pipeline which will bring the natural gas to Ankara will be united by welding.
Deputy Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz and Energy and Natural Sources Minister Zeki Cakan will attend the ceremony. After the welding, the project will enter a new stage.
Turkey will start receiving natural gas first in December, 2002. A total of 12 million cubic meters of natural gas in expected to be delivered to Turkey every day by the Blue Stream Project.
A 501 kilometer long pipeline has been installed between Samsun and Ankara and a natural gas measuring station has been built as part of the project.
The project is expected to cost 3.4 billion USD. Some 376 kilometer part of the total 1,200 kilometer pipeline is passing under the sea.
