Erdogan To Quit As Founding Member But Remain As Leader Of A.K.P.

ANKARA - Justice and Development Party (AK Party) leader Recep Tayyip Erdogan will quit as founding member of the AK Party on his own accord in order to abide by the Constitutional Court's warning that ''Erdogan can't be a founding members as he does not have the competence to be elected as a parliamentarian''.
AK Party Secretary General Ertugrul Yalcinbayir told the A.A on Tuesday that this warning should be fulfilled until October 19 and that Erdogan would quit as founding member of the AK Party.
The warning did not include any decision about Erdogan's AK Party leadership, Yalcinbayir said and added, ''so Erdogan will continue to be the leader of our party.''
