BALA - Labour and Social Security Minister Nejat Arseven said on Tuesday that human rights was not an issue that could be solved in a few days.
Responding to questions of reporters, Arseven noted that Turkey's determination about this issue could clearly be seen.
Arseven said that serious developments were recorded in human rights recently and those developments were voiced by different circles in Europe.
Legal infrastructure had to be changed and enforcers should be trained to solve human rights problems, Arseven noted.
Arseven stated that human rights was an issue of education and culture and went on saying, ''the more we educate, train, and make conscious enforcers in Interior and Justice ministries, the fewer human rights violations and torture are. Of course, attitude of our citizens about this issue is very important. Manisa Case is one of the most typical examples of this. We discussed this issue with the Justice Minister then for many times. Mr. Hikmet Sami Turk seriously dealt with the issue. There were nothing that I and the minister could do by taking action from the principle of independence of jurisdiction. Judicial process was continuing. However, if we can prevent such situations resulting from professional fanaticism, we can record serious developments.''
''Turkey does not have any complex. Human rights is an issue concerning not only Turkey but also many EU members. Lawsuits are filed against some EU member countries also in the European Court of Human Rights. To this end, there is no need to have any complex and feel any deficiency. What is important is whether or not the state is determined about this issue. We have to take this into consideration. Today, determination of Turkey can clearly be seen,'' Arseven said.
Arseven stated that there were not any countries where human rights violations were fully prevented in a period when concept of human rights was diversified and added that progress and determination about the issue was important.
