ZONGULDAK - Energy and Natural Resources Minister Zeki Cakan said on Sunday, ''I will leave for Iran at Monday night to meet with Iranian Petroleum Minister. Later, a decrease in price of natural gas purchased from Iran can be in question.''
Holding a press conference, Cakan said, ''during my meeting with the Iranian Petroleum Minister, we will review the natural gas agreement under the light of works carried out by Iranian oil company and the Pipeline Transportation Corp (BOTAS).''
''The deal signed with Iran on natural gas does not include favorable conditions. I will leave for Iran on Monday night to meet with the Iranian Petroleum Minister. Later, a decrease in price of natural gas that will be from Iran can be in question,'' he said.
Cakan told reporters, ''Turkey imports 6 billion cubic metres of natural gas form Russia in accordance with a 25-year agreement. Also, Turkey imports 4 billion cubic metres of natural gas from Algeria with a 22-year agreement, 1.2 billion cubic metres of natural gas from Nigeria with a 22-year agreement. According to a 25-year-agreement, we will import 10 billion cubic metres of natural gas from Iran.''
