NEW YORK - President Rauf Denktas of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) will undergo a heart surgery in New York, the United States, on Monday.
President Denktas will be operated by Turkish cardiologist Mehmet Oz and his team at the Columbia Presbytarian Hospital at 8.30 local time.
President Denktas said that the surgery should have been performed last June, and added that he could not go to the United States for the surgery due to Cyprus talks.
He is expected to rest in the hospital for four days. After his discharge from the hospital, President Denktas will stay in New York for a week to rest.
